For the Birds!
After a few days of catching our breath back in Sao Paulo, we took a flight down to the city of Foz do Iguacu. Our first stop was the Parque das Aves (Bird Park). It was absolutely phenomenal - one of the best highlights of our whole trip.

The pictures give a good idea of what it was like to be surrounded by some of the world's most beautiful tropical birds - literally at arm's reach!
Natalie loved getting right up close to the toucans...
and other birds....

...except when it came to actually holding them!
Those are some tickly talons!
Mom's a pro at this!
Dad's arm is just the right size for a perch!
Joe almost blends in with those birdies on the top!
This bird had an incredible variety of colors and patterns.
Check out the headdresses on these ones!
Colors as vivid as a Kodak ad!
Orange beauty
Grandpa with the amazing "tarzan trees".
What a cute little birdie :)
This toucan was not afraid of me at all. He kept bobbing his head around like he was trying to tell me that I should try some of the delicious snack he was sampling....Froot Loop anyone?

Our little nature boy :)
Birds and their business. Ha ha.

Lucas got a great nap while the rest of us saw the birds. Hooray for strollers!!

I loved this sign - I saw it in at least three places in Foz. Such a wonderful reminder of who created all of these wonders. (can you imagine seeing something like this in America these days?)
Grandma keeping 'Lijah happy on the flight. It was the most relaxing airplane ride I've had in a really long time!
Grandpa taught Natalie how to play tic-tac-toe on the back of the napkins.
Mom with her amazing bread! She has perfected and adapted her famous recipe for use in the tiny oven in their missionary apartment and made enough loaves to feed an army before we arrived. Here's one of many huge batches of sandwiches she made to get us through our journeys!
The kids in the back seat. Wait. Something is missing. Oh yeah - carseats!! (can't say that I really missed them at all, actually!)
