Waiting for Elijah

For the last month I feel like I have been racing against the clock to get last minute baby preparation done, while trying to keep up our normal routine of preschool, swim classes, park days, house projects, family and church obligations, etc. The due date (Oct. 27th) came and went uneventfully, but it felt like we hardly had time to stop and notice.

So it was SUCH a relief to have Grandma and Grandpa here early (like a whole week early!) to get comfortable with the kids' routine.

Grandpa Goldberg brought "Hamlet" for show-and-tell - a real bear skull with quite the background story...(suffice it to say that it was either the bear's skull or a human's that would be showing!)

Of course with the extra help from Grandma and Grandpa Goldberg we had to try to squeeze in some house projects, too.


Grandpa worked his magic and transformed our 'black hole' closet into a clutter-free haven with custom-built shelves (all while battling a cold - a real labor of love!) I was ecstatic with the results!!


Grandma found time to make mountains of cookies, which the kids found ways to make disappear :)

The kids had time for some Halloween fun with their preschool friends.




And our sweet little mouse in the house...he has become quite the escape artist. Mom performed the greatest service of all and taught Lucas to take naps in his crib again. Ever since he learned how to climb out of his crib a month or so ago, his entire schedule has been thrown off, and I was constantly exhausted just trying to find ways to help him sleep (let alone get sleep myself). Mom had the patience to sit with him with 'emotional detachment' and teach him how. What a blessing and answer to prayer for me!

So, come Elijah...come!!
