A visit from G&G Holloman

We were so lucky to have Grandpa & Grandma Holloman visit us this last weekend! They flew to San Diego for a conference and then drove all the way up to see us. We really packed in the memories and were so glad to have had that time with them. We had a nice mix of adventure, down time, and work. We went to the Palo Alto Junior Museum, went to see the Rewoods, celebrated St. Patty's day, and Dad helped us get our garden prepped for planting (woo hoo! spring is here!)

(there are some photos from my phone I haven't been able to upload yet...hopefully soon)

Grandpa soaking up some sweet baby smiles
Christian is really starting to communicate with coos, smiles, adoring looks, and now some laughs here and there (especially when looking at his reflection in the mirror). It is so fun!!
Walking among the gentle giants.

Natalie got ahold of the camera and had fun taking some pictures :)

He also surprised us by rolling over (from his tummy onto his back)...the 'carefree' days are quickly coming to a close as the mobility begins!

On Saturday we took a family outing to the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Felton. It is one of our new favorites because it is pretty kid-friendly, closer than other redwoods (like Muir Woods) and less crowded. Plus there is a special surprise mid-way through the hike...and we found out about another surprise at the end of the hike.

We happened to arrive at the park at the same time as our good friends the Sharps who were actually the ones who introduced us to the park a year ago, they brought along some other friends from the ward too. It was fun to hike together.
Waiting for our turn to ride

Hollomans All aboard!
More Hollomans aboard!
Hills all aboard!!

Silly kiddos aboard!

At first we didn't think we could make the train since there was only one scheduled to run that day. Then we found out that it was oversold and they opened another ride. So we decided to do it! We had taken Great Grandma Holloman on the beach train the previous year and had a great time, so we were excited to try the other train this time.

It was a nice relaxing ride. The train stopped halfway up the mountain and the conductor gave a little lecture about the redwoods and gave us some time to walk around in the forest before getting back on board.

Elijah was excited to show Uncle Charles his ticket
And he had to show Grandpa too
Redheads and Redwoods :)

eeeewww....banana slugs!

The Fremont Tree - this was the highlight of the hike...because it is completely hollow inside!

Cousins had a great time climbing the trees
Feeling "lucky" to celebrate St. Patty's day together!
